Characteristics of the Nidcker Alpha APX

As well as growing the Biomimicry Series to include the Gamma, we’re also introducing the Gamma APX. One ofthe most unique boards we’ve ever created, this freestyle twin takes concepts we’ve learned from nature and mutates them into a shape to inspire creativity all over the mountain.

It’s a true twin with a difference: symmetrical nose to tail but asymmetrical from edge to edge. As turns take more force to initiate on your heel edge, we’ve made this sidecut tighter than the toe edge, so whilst the board may look uneven, it actually balances your ride equally toe-to-heel. Coupled with a positive profile for better carving control and more pop, the Gamma floats in the deep and holds its line on hardpack, both ways.

First developed for the Alpha and Beta, we’ve brought over our 3D-shaped Evolution Spoon Nose, now on a twin shape for the first time. At the nose, it gives a unique rolling sensation whilst transitioning between turns as well as added float in soft snow. At the tail it gives a new, looser connection whilst buttering or jamming out slashes, but the edges re-engage with pin sharp precision as soon as you lean it over.

The APX version comes with a faster, harder wearing N-9000 base and dual carbon stringers on either side of the core for more pop and reactivity, but what really sets it apart is the Nidactive APX edge technology.

This places the core directly over the edge, which not only looks like nothing else, but actually increases the force you can exert from your bindings, making this an agile, adaptive and engaging riding experience.

The Gamma is for freestyle focused riders who want to take skills honed in the park to the rest of the mountain. Think spinning in and out of pillow lines, finding new lines through natural halfpipes and shaping slushy hits in the spring. It’s a unique board,made for unique experiences.

NIDACTIVE SANWITCH

This new construction really put our experience and expertise to the test during rad and production. The precision required to assemble the different material layers is measured in tenths of millimeters. We use a cap construction for the nose & tail, while the riding section features a 2mm sidewall with a machine-rounded core to obtain optimum fluid flow properties and power transfer to the rails.

NSERTY 4/2-6

6 rows of inserts every 2 centimeters allow you to adjust the optimal position for the user and is compatible with all bindings available on the market. Nidecker recommends mounting the bindings in the second narrowest position.

BIAX PLUS GLASS FIBER

Biax Plus retains the properties of our tried and tested 90° biaxial fiberglass weave but we use more glass to enhance power transfer. It's uncompromising in it's response and energy return, and loved and coveted by riders searching for a good blend of stiff & damp wherever they rip.

POP CARBON+

Strategically placed carbon fiber from the tail to the rear inserts and from the nose to the front inserts results in greater board reactivity, with increased pop and stiffness. The good cushioning properties of Pop Carbon technology make it ideal for more aggressive skateboards in a variety of conditions.

SLIDE N-9000

Created using carbon nanoparticles, the N-9000 slide has a very compact molecular structure, which makes it the fastest and most durable.

ABSORBNID

Absorbnid is an innovative top layer designed to absorb unwanted vibrations. This allows us to develop responsive, dynamic boards that still give you a smooth and fatigue free ride.

LIGHT CORE

Our lightest core - featuring three different wood types. The Light Core is a perfect combination of paulownia for lightness, poplar for pop and responsiveness, and hardwood beech stringers along the edges to increase core durability, pop and protection from edge impacts.
